Christmas 2013

December flew by! I can't believe it has already come and gone.  Kind of makes me sad.  We were busy with visiting my dad at the hospital, church callings, Christmas parties, work, juggling kids, shopping and before we knew it Christmas day was here.  I was really disappointed with myself for not getting cards out this year, but really loved receiving cards from friends and family.  Next year we will be better. Overall, we had a nice Christmas and enjoyed spending time together.

Mike and I were asked to play Mary and Joseph for our Stake's Choir concert they put on every year with the Lakewood Symphony. It was two nights and we loved every minute of it.

We then headed over to Mimi and Pop Pop's house for more presents to open.  In the afternoon we went to open presents with my parents at the rehab facility. I should have taken pictures there but I forgot! We also got to see Steph, Brandon and Jack Marcum too. (Steph- why did we not take a picture?!?)

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.

Much Love,

The McCabes

Reba Deacon is the only cousin of Ashlyn and Kendall on my side of the family. We finally got to meet her when my brother, Brady,  and his wife, Cori came to visit.  Reba is was born in June and she couldn't be any cuter. We just love her so much. Here are a few pictures I took of her and Kendall.

Fall 2013 was an interesting one. To start off, my dad became really sick and had to be hospitalized mid September.  He started off at a hospital in Grand Junction and eventually moved to receive better care at University Hospital in Denver.  We visited my dad and mom weekly and watched helplessly as my dad stared death in the face several times.  With the help of many prayers from friends and family, exceptional care from doctors and nurses, my dad was finally released to go home and recover today (December 31st.)  I can't imagine what my dad has had to endure. My mother has been a faithful and unconditionally loving spouse to him and been by his side through every step.  She truly has demonstrated to me what it means the love "through sickness and health." We are so grateful that my dad is going to recover. He has a long road of physical therapy, but his doctors believe my dad will make almost a full recovery.  2013 was tough on my dad.  New Years Day he lost his mother.  A month later his father.  A month after that his only brother unexpectedly passed away.  Then he started to feel sick after mom and and he returned from a trip to the Mediterranean, and has been sick ever since.  We are all looking forward to putting the dark times of 2013 behind us and starting fresh with 2014.

Here are some pictures from the fall… (Taken with my iPhone, of course.)
